 Side Tabs...working with side tabs.

The EP-Tabs...(L&R) When mounted on, either the keying or
angular Notch Trowel, it contains the excess mortar during the
combing motion. Also, these tabs when positioned for bottom
mounting will raise the blade profile approx. 3/32". This will
produce a flat spreading option or raised pattern.

Use both to start with after striking. Reference line-Cover the
lining with the edge of either wood or metal angle. Then comb
against this edge.

How much area to comb out/spread?

It depends on two conditions...SIze of tile and batch mixing
g (5 Gal bucket). The Keying/Flat blade hs an 18" profile and
the Notch Trowel Blades are 16" wide. Most contractors pour
out a full bucket. (Coverage 20-30 sq. ft.)

Mortars, which mortars work the best?
Mortar selection is your responsibility or what the job
requirements are specified. A mortar with good fow features
work best. Examples would be the New Engineered Mortars that
are labeled as Light Weight, Full Contact and Pourable.

 High Volume Spreading (H.V.S.)?

This a old spreading method of combing out a large area of
mortar and then set tiles. Today (H.V.S.) is viewed as a
procedure of mortar from a moving, standing position in seconds.
This speeds up the tiling process.
